The leading partner is the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina from Sremska Kamenica, Serbia, while the partner in the project is the Clinical Hospital Center of Osijek, Croatia.
Educational workshop
On 1 April 2025, at the Oncology Institute of Vojvodina (IOV), organised by the lead partner, the first educational workshop entitled “Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pathology” was held. The workshop was opened by the Head of the Department of Pathological and Anatomical Diagnostics at IOV and the project leader, Prof. Dr Tatjana Ivković-Kapicl.
The speakers were international guests from Portugal and Italy: Monica Curado, Laboratory Manager and Technical Coordinator at the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology in Porto, Portugal; Dr Fillippo Fraggetta, Director of the Department of Pathology at Gravina e Santo Pietro Hospital in Caltagirone (CT), Sicily, Italy; and Prof. Dr Alessandro Caputo, Computational Pathologist at the University of Salerno, Campania, Italy.
During the workshop, 14 diverse and current topics in the field of digital pathology and the use of artificial intelligence in pathology were addressed across four thematic sections. Through lectures and direct discussions with the speakers, participants were given the opportunity to gain insights into the latest developments and modern trends in this field, as well as the operations of digitalised laboratories.
On a tour of the pathology laboratory, Ms Monica Curado provided the workshop participants with practical knowledge and skills related to the use of the digital scanner.
